Jewellery Workshop
During the first jewellery workshop, we began by learning about all the different equipment pieces and tools that we would be using during the following workshops. We first went through all the different types of tools and what they would be used for, for example, different types of hammers, files and saws. We then went over the different metals we would be using: Brass, Copper and Silver. To end the session, we were taught the different processes in jewellery work. We started with annealing our metal, to heat the material to make it more flexible. Then to pickling the metal, to place the metal in an acid solution to clean the metal. At the end we were shown how to solder two pieces of metal together using flux and solder in a liquid solution together and the flux and solder separate.
