Jewellery Workshop 2
In the second session of the jewellery workshop we began making rings. We first chose the material we wanted to work in, I chose silver. We measured the size that our ring would be by using a ring/finger gauge, then, using a hammer I fed my piece of silver over a mandrel, hammering it to create the curve. I then used a saw to cut off the excess silver. Using the soldering method we were shown in the previous session, I soldered the two ends off the ring together. When soldering the pieces together, the metal snapped and a piece broke off so I repeated the whole process again. When the ring was soldered together, I placed it in the pickle to clean it.
