Umbrellas and Beach Towels.

For the page on umbrellas I created a stencil of an umbrella shaped and used this to cut different coloured umbrellas, I then randomly placed these around the page and stuck them down to create a collage of multicoloured umbrellas. I then found pictures and paintings of umbrella designs on Pinterest and used these to paint myself, using acrylic and gauche and placed them along side secondary photographs of umbrellas that I also found on Pinterest. I think this page is successful in exploring different umbrella designs and will help me in my final piece when it comes to painting and design them for my model, however, i feel the background of this page makes it look quite busy, therefore, I wish i had have tried other ways to design a background.

For my page on beach towels, I used gauche to paint white and yellow stripes like in the photograph to portray a beach towel. I also used gauche paint to replicate a poster I found on Pinterest of a women sat on a beach towel. I got the skin colour wrong on this painting however, I feel it is very similar to the real illustration. On this page I also used primary photographs where beach towels can be seen and displayed them in a polaroid form which I think makes it look interesting and vintage. As  the beach towels used in the photographs are croquet patchwork, I found an image from Pinterest of a croquet patchwork along with other images go vintage beach towels. For this page I also created samples of croquet squares which I am very proud of as I have never croqueted before. Overall, I am very pleased with this page.
